The university currently has a site license for the following pieces of commercial software. This means that the software can be installed on any university-owned machine on campus.

The university does not maintain a campus license for Yet Another Mail Merge. However, licenses may be approved for use completing mail merge operations with the G Suite ecosystem.

Software for Personally-Owned Devices

As a current student or faculty/staff member of UNC Asheville you have access to select software titles either free or at significant discounts. Please note that this software is for personal (home) use and should not be installed on university-owned computers.  ITS does not support personal equipment or software.

Microsoft OfficeFREECurrent UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for personal use of both the online and downloadable versions of Microsoft Office 365 for free.  The downloadable version of Office 365 can be installed on up to 5 personal devices. Visit https://portal.office.com to access and download Office 365 for your personal use. Use your UNC Asheville email address (username@unca.edu) along with your security account password to access the site.  Please visit our Office 365 knowledge base for installation instructions and frequently asked questions.

Read&Write for Mobile Tablets (Andriod and iPads)FREECurrent UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for free installation of the Read&Write app on their compatible Android and iPad devices, available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Use your @unca.edu account to verify your license after installation.
Read&Write for Google ChromeFREECurrent UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for free installation of the Read&Write for Google Chrome extension from the chrome web store. You must be signed in to both Chrome and Google Drive with your @unca.edu account to use the premium features on the toolbar and a restart of Chrome is required after installation. Please refer to texthelp support for any issues with the toolbar.
Read&Write 12FREECurrent UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for free installation of Read&Write 12 on your personal device. Please utilize Software Center (PC), Self-Service(Mac), or contact ITS if you need the software installed on a university-owned device.

Installation media can be downloaded and installed directly from Texthelp (https://www.texthelp.com/en-us/products/read-write/#). Once installed you can click the settings button (three horizontal lines on the right) and sign in using your UNCA Google credentials.

SASFREECurrent UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for free installation of SAS on your personal device.  Installation media can be checked out from the Circulation Desk in Ramsey Library.  Link requires @unca.edu account sign-in:  Instructions

Note: Mac users may install JMP.

SPSSFREEDue to a limited number of SPSS license, current UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff are eligible for limited installations of SPSS on personal devices. Please use the link below to submit your request. This link should not be used to request SPSS for university-owned machines. Please contact the ITS Service Desk at itservicedesk@unca.edu if you would like to have SPSS installed on your university-owned computer. Link requires @unca.edu account sign-in:  SPSS Request Form. 
Additional Personal-Device Software PurchasesDiscountAs current UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff you are eligible for discounted software purchases. Please visit the vendor portal to view available software. Purchases for your university owned machines should be requested through ITS Purchasing.
